One of the first disorders suffered by the skin in the aging process is water loss. One technique that restores the skin’s hydration and elasticity that it loses over the years is hyaluronic acid microinfiltration.
Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is naturally present in all living beings, occupying the spaces between tissue cells. In the skin, we have about 56% of the concentration of hyaluronic acid present in our bodies. Hyaluronic acid attracts a significant amount of water to its surroundings and stimulates the formation of collagen and elastin. It also has a great antioxidant power blocking free radicals.
As we age, the amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin decreases as well as its molecular weight, so that it no longer retains water, as it did previously. That’s why, in young people, when we pinch the skin, it immediately returns to its original position, while in older people, this recovery is slower, thus wrinkles appear.
With this treatment we obtain, quickly and safely, a deep hydration achieving a smoother and more luminous skin. In addition, after several treatments, fibroblast activity increases, resulting in a healthy, fresh and youthful appearance.
It can be applied on face, neck, neckline and back of hands. The number of sessions depends on the degree of skin aging, although generally 4 sessions are performed every 2-3 weeks and then a maintenance session every 4-6 months. The duration of the effect depends on the patient’s habits, especially tobacco consumption, which will favor a greater loss of effect in less time.
What does the treatment consist of?
- An anesthetic cream is applied for approximately 1 hour.
- Hyaluronic acid is infiltrated into the dermis of the area to be treated using a microinjection technique.
- Finally, a massage is performed in the treated area.
