Treatment to improve the quality of our skin this summer

Summer is here and it is time to care for and protect our skin. The winter has been long and the skin suffers from the cold, the heating and the lack of light. With the increased hours of sunlight we feel more like going out and being outdoors, and therefore we are more motivated to take care of ourselves and dress up a little more.

There are different dermatological treatments to improve the quality of our skin, wrinkles and flaccidity, but it is necessary to know which of them are recommended in summer and which are not.

Medical-aesthetic treatments that cause skin inflammation, such as chemical peels or lasers, should be avoided in summer and postponed to the following autumn whenever possible. However, there are many treatments that we can not only continue to perform during the summer months, but that are especially recommended at this time of the year for various reasons.

  • Botulinum toxin treatment for expression wrinkles: Summer is the perfect time to refresh your appearance with a botulinum toxin treatment. The periodic and constant movement of squinting to avoid eye discomfort due to sunlight is very common in the summer months and produces an irreversible increase in the number and depth of periocular expression lines, also called “crow’s feet”. Botulinum toxin produces the relaxation of these muscles, smoothing the appearance of the face. Botox is especially recommended during the summer months as it avoids the increase of expression wrinkles and also its application allows to obtain a uniform tan without marking or accentuating expression lines.
  • Application of Botox® to reduce underarm sweating: it is a simple treatment with no side effects that achieves a total or almost total reduction of underarm sweating for approximately 6 months. This avoids the appearance of the stain or the stand on the clothes that bothers us so much in the time of high temperatures.
  • Facial mesotherapy with hyaluronic acid: hyaluronic acid has multiple beneficial properties for the skin, including antioxidant capacity. In other words, hyaluronic acid prevents aging or oxidative damage to our skin cells due to sun exposure. It also allows deep rehydration of the skin and the creation of new collagen fibers in the dermis. Increases skin hydration and firmness.
  • Platelet-rich plasma: biostimulation of the skin with platelet growth factors. It is a safe treatment that provides luminosity and resistance to the skin. Platelet-rich serum obtained from the patient is used.
  • Hyaluronic acid to redefine facial volumes: it is a safe treatment that achieves natural results in record time. It is mainly used to treat or prevent fine or deep skin furrows and wrinkles. In addition, it is ideal for replenishing the volumes of the face that are altered over the years, such as the fall of the cheekbone or the cheeks.

In any case, my recommendation is to take constant care of the skin and body throughout the year, mainly through a healthy and balanced life in terms of diet, rest and physical exercise. If you also make good use of existing technology and the best dermatological professionals, you will stay younger and more beautiful for longer. May you be happy and have a great summer!
